Diamond Wire Saw Application
Above: Part of the cutting requirements for this contract included the forming of a two large openings for a new atrium. The reinforced concrete wall was 750mm thick, and cut using a diamond wire saw.
To alleviate the need for supports or landing platforms during the removal of the initial sections a bottom taper cut was made. Special locking pins were used to lock the sections in place prior to lifting, allowing all sections to be cut before bringing in the crane, thus reducing on site crane time.
Special pivoting lifting pins were also manufactured to allow the sections to be lifted. A total of 800m² was cut on this contract.
